We recognize that it is important for children to experience opportunities that allow them to develop and grow in as many ways as possible. Therefore, the Children & Youth Resource Directory is provided as a free public service to the community by providing a comprehensive listing of all of the fun, educational and developmental activities that there are to do with young children throughout the region. And within our four target areas (Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks and Monroe/Carbon counties) each county directory is designed to help anyone involved in nurturing a child find and locate the best services (and products) in the area.
The goals of the directory are:
The core content of the guide is focused on organizations that provide services in the areas of art & culture, education, family services, health & safety, those requiring special needs and sports and recreation. Also included in each directory are hundreds of local community business sponsors that are just as committed to supporting the development of our future generations as we are. We also provide information on parenting tips, articles that create awareness of issues kids and parents may deal with and how to go about accessing those greatly needed services.
Over 30,000 copies of the printed directory are distributed to families in each county through libraries, banks, retailers, community service organizations and other outlets. In addition, the directory is available in a digital PDF format (available on our website). Here parents can access a broad range of information including parenting resources, community events as well as information on our Child ID Program.
It is intended to remain in the household year-round to serve as a resource for families in locating the many wonderful opportunities our region has to offer. By increasing awareness of these many resources, we hope to build a framework for an improved quality of life for every child and their family.
